Your tasks

  • Perform the installation, commissioning, startup, and service of CNC machines and associated products and equipment in accordance with company standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on complex CNC machine tools with minimal technical assistance by following technical documentation, maintenance schedules, and service procedures.
  • Conduct 3-month, 6-month, and annual preventative maintenance inspections, including comprehensive evaluations of machine mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and control systems to maximize machine reliability, accuracy, and uptime.
  • Perform machine kinematics, including axis calibration, rotary axis calibration, spindle alignment, laser calibration, ball bar testing, probing system calibration, and other precision measurement procedures to ensure machining accuracy and repeatability.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, CNC control, servo, spindle, and automation systems using technical documentation, diagnostic software, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Identify product deficiencies and recurring equipment issues during early product life cycle and communicate findings with engineering and advanced technical support teams to facilitate corrective actions and product improvements.
  • Analyze and resolve machining, and application problems of moderate complexity while coordinating with the on-site Applications Engineer on advanced machining processes and complex manufacturing challenges.
  • Analyze test cuts, machine performance data, and dimensional inspection results to diagnose machining issues, optimize machine performance, and verify compliance with customer quality requirements.
  • Support special customer initiatives, including "Customer Alert" and "Hot Customer" situations, by providing timely technical expertise, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and regular status updates to internal departments and customers.
  • Provide advanced technical assistance and training to Field Service Engineers on complex troubleshooting, machine recovery, kinematic compensation, calibration procedures, and best service practices.
  • Install machine upgrades, software updates, hardware modifications, and replacement components while ensuring proper machine operation and documentation.
  • Conduct customer and internal training on machine operation, maintenance procedures, preventative maintenance practices, machine calibration, safety requirements, and proper equipment care.
  • Maintain effective communication between the customer, Customer Support Center (CSC), Advanced Technical Support Department, Engineering, and other internal departments to ensure timely issue resolution and exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed service reports documenting diagnostics performed, repairs completed, preventative maintenance activities, calibration results, kinematic compensation records, parts utilized, labor hours, and customer recommendations in accordance with Service Department procedures.
  • Adhere to all Service Department Code of Conduct Guidelines, company policies, customer site requirements, and applicable safety regulations.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Customer Support Center (CSC) and Advanced Technical Support team to receive assignments, provide progress updates, escalate technical issues, and coordinate service activities.
  • Maintain company-issued tools, diagnostic equipment, calibration equipment, and service inventory in proper working conditions.
  • Complete additional assignments and projects as requested by the United Machining Shop Floor Manager

Your profile

  • Associate-s Degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering from a University or Technical College; over 6 years- experience with a similar manufacturing or machine tool company; or and equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with the use of test equipment and EDM and/or Milling machines.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Systems, including Excel and Microsoft Word. Knowledge of Great Plains or similar software program helpful.
