Tasks & Responsibilities:
• You develop concepts and participate in feasibility studies to meet technical requirements.
• You perform and take ownership of specific software development tasks, ensuring reviews using checklists and templates.
• You lead work package definition, estimation, and planning, and enhance or document SW unit specifications and designs.
• You review designs and contribute to the SW architecture, defining quality attributes and staying updated with technology trends.
• You conduct root-cause analysis of complex issues and provide bug fixes for post-market software releases.
• You ensure compliance with processes, propose improvements, and stay informed about regulatory and market standards.
Must Haves:
Embedded & Real-Time Systems
• Hands-on experience developing embedded or systems-level software in a professional setting.
• Experience with real-time Linux (PREEMPT_RT) or a comparable RTOS.
• Experience with hardware communication protocols: CAN bus (required).
• Practical understanding of real-time constraints: latency, jitter, task scheduling
Rust & Software Engineering
• Proven experience as a Software Engineer with a strong focus on Rust; solid grasp of ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, traits and error handling (2+ years minimum)
• Comfortable with asynchronous programming in Rust
• Experience with Linux and familiarity with embedded build/debug tooling
• University degree in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent

Professional & Domain
• Highly motivated, deadline-focused, with a proactive and thorough way of working
• Willingness to work in a regulated environment (medical device, automotive, aerospace or industrial safety) and follow structured development processes
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; willingness to write good documentation and drive work to conclusion
• Fluent in English
Nice to Have:
• Experience with IEC 62304, ISO 13485 or IVDR (medical device software lifecycle standards)
• Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers (RabbitMQ, Domain Driven Design)
• Kubernetes, Docker for CI/build environments
• Experience in agile development environments
• German language skills
This role is probably not for you if:
• You're primarily looking for web backend, blockchain, or pure cloud-native work or UI.
• You haven't worked with physical hardware or low-level systems before and don't want to.
