GIS/IT Specialist

The Office for Agriculture and Geoinformation is a service of the Department of Public Economy and Social Affairs. It comprises four sections: agricultural measures, structural improvement, surveying and the GIS competence centre.

As a central provider of IT and geoservices, the GIS competence centre manages and develops the geodata infrastructure of the cantonal administration. Within an interdisciplinary team of eight specialists, it implements WebGIS solutions, specific applications and innovative geoservices. Using modern methods and processes, it creates digital tools that enable the administration and the population to easily access georeferenced data and use it efficiently.

For the GIS competence centre section, located at the Office for Agriculture and Geoinformation, we are looking for a GIS/IT specialist for 1 January 2027 or a date to be agreed.

Tasks

• Design, develop and automate robust data pipelines for the integration and transformation of complex geodata.
• Design, develop and refine specialised applications, WebGIS solutions and related geoservices.
• Define and improve modern workflows to make distribution and release processes (deployment and release) more efficient.
• Advise cantonal services on the technical integration of geodata and evaluate new open source and cloud technologies.

What we expect from you

• University or university of applied sciences degree in geoinformatics, computer science, data science, geography or a related field. Applications from persons with corresponding professional experience and further training in GIS and IT as well as recent graduates are also welcome.
• Ideally experience with modern IT architectures, relational and spatial databases (e.g. PostGIS) as well as Python and SQL.
• Strong willingness to learn and interest in methodical analysis of complex problems, development of pragmatic solutions and rapid practical application of innovations.
• Initiative, reliability and solution-oriented working method.
