Data Engineer (m/w) 80-100%

Location: Stein (home office days) Workload: 80-100% Start: By agreement A listed technology company focused on peptide chemistry for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry is investing in a new production site in north-western Switzerland. For this large-scale investment project we are seeking a Data Engineer. Your tasks: You design, develop and maintain scalable batch and real-time data pipelines on the Databricks platform using PySpark, SQL and Delta Lake. You build and optimise enterprise data architectures including medallion frameworks, ensuring data quality, consistency and reliability across all layers. You integrate manufacturing and business-critical data sources such as SAP, MES, LIMS, eQMS and process historians into a unified data ecosystem. You develop and manage automated data workflows, orchestration processes and reusable data products. You implement data governance, security, lineage and compliance standards in line with GMP, GxP, ALCOA+ and data integrity requirements. You monitor and enhance data platform performance through workload optimisation, cost management, testing frameworks and CI/CD processes. You collaborate closely with data scientists, process engineers, business stakeholders, QA and validation teams. You enable advanced analytics and machine learning initiatives with curated datasets, semantic data models and self-service analytics foundations. Your profile: Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data engineering, information technology or a related field 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, building and operating enterprise-scale data pipelines and platforms Strong expertise in Databricks technologies including PySpark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog and workflow orchestration Proficient in SQL and Python with a solid understanding of software engineering best practices, testing and CI/CD Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS and/or Azure) Proven track record in regulated environments with knowledge of GMP, GxP, data integrity and audit requirements Experience integrating enterprise and manufacturing systems such as SAP, MES and LIMS Pharmaceutical or life sciences experience is highly desirable Your benefits: A dynamic and rapidly growing work environment with internal development and training opportunities Flexible working hours with home office days and the option of additional vacation days through workload reduction Company-run daycare centre on campus 60% coverage of pension fund contributions plus an extra-mandatory pension option Access to benefits platforms with discounts from external partners Fresh, healthy and varied food in the staff restaurant and a wide range of free sports activities on campus
