Access Excellence Director

For our Client, a large pharmaceutical company based in Basel, we are seeking an experienced Access Excellence Director to join the Value & Access organization.

In this role, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence across international markets, enabling data-driven decision-making, and building best-in-class access performance management capabilities.

You will lead the development and execution of governance processes, KPI frameworks, analytics strategies, budgeting processes, and knowledge management initiatives that support high-quality access outcomes across the organization. Acting as a key partner to Access, HEOR, Pricing, Finance, Analytics, and market teams, you will ensure consistent execution, strong performance visibility, and continuous improvement across the access function.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive operational excellence across the Value & Access organization through robust governance, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Own and evolve access governance processes, decision-support systems, and the overall Access Excellence operating model.
• Develop and maintain enterprise-wide access KPI frameworks and dashboards across pre-launch, launch, post-launch, and lifecycle management activities.
• Enable data-driven decision-making by delivering meaningful insights, analytics, and performance reporting to senior leadership.
• Define and implement access data standards, governance principles, quality controls, and reporting processes.
• Partner with IT, analytics teams, and markets to establish reliable data flows and ensure a single source of truth for access-related data.
• Lead annual budgeting and financial planning activities across Access functions, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and effective resource allocation.
• Monitor budgets, evaluate investment decisions, and support trade-off discussions through business-focused analytics.
• Facilitate best-practice sharing, capability building, and knowledge management across regions and markets.
• Collaborate effectively within a highly matrixed global environment, balancing diverse stakeholder needs while maintaining focus on business objectives.
• Ensure all activities comply with applicable ethics, risk, quality, and compliance requirements.

Required

• 8+ years of experience in Market Access, Value & Access, Access Operations, Operational Excellence, or related functions.
• International, regional, or global market experience.
• Proven experience designing and implementing KPI frameworks, dashboards, reporting systems, and governance processes.
• Strong understanding of access data, performance management systems, data governance, and analytics.
• Experience leading cross-functional initiatives within complex matrix organizations.
• Experience with budget planning, tracking, and resource management.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.

Preferred

• Experience in a global pharmaceutical or biotechnology organization.
• Exposure to Access Excellence, Commercial Excellence, Market Access Operations, Pricing Operations, or related functions.
• MBA, PhD, MD, PharmD, or equivalent advanced degree.
• Extensive experience working across multiple international markets.
